EMDR Therapy in Westchester, NY & Connecticut

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy approach that helps the brain process distressing memories and experiences so they feel less overwhelming in the present. As an EMDR-trained therapist, I use it to help clients work through trauma, anxiety, and painful patterns that talking alone hasn’t shifted.

What to expect in EMDR therapy

At Serene Within, we move at a pace that feels supportive. We begin by understanding your concerns and building emotional regulation skills before processing any memories. EMDR can be combined with talk therapy to address both past experiences and present-day challenges. To learn more about how a session works, read my post on [what EMDR is and what a session looks like].

Who can benefit from EMDR therapy?

EMDR may help if you’re experiencing:

  • Anxiety, persistent fears, or feeling constantly on edge

  • Childhood trauma or painful past experiences

  • Low self-esteem and negative beliefs about yourself

  • Repeating relationship patterns or fear of rejection

  • Emotional triggers or reactions that feel hard to control

  • Shame, guilt, or self-blame

  • Distressing memories that continue to affect your daily life

You don’t need to have experienced one major traumatic event to explore EMDR. Sometimes, repeated experiences over time shape how we see ourselves and relate to others.

I offer in-person EMDR therapy at my White Plains office, serving Westchester County, and virtual EMDR sessions for clients in New York and Connecticut.

You don’t have to keep feeling the effects of experiences you’ve already lived through. Schedule a free consultation to see if EMDR is a good fit for you.
